About Omaha

Omaha is another type of Hold ‘em that can be played by 2-10 players at a time. Derived from the poker variant Texas Hold’em, Omaha is an interesting game with a slight variation in the play style. Like Texas Hold ‘em, there are four rounds of game, but unlike that version, each player is dealt four hole cards and the five community cards are immediately revealed. It is tricky and the player needs to use the best 2 cards from the 4 in hand.

How to play :

  • Each player is dealt 4 face-down hole cards.
  • The player who is the dealer begins and the game rotates clockwise.
  • First and second players to the left of the dealer place small and big blind.
  • Once the hole cards are dealt and force blinds get placed, the next round commences.
  • The players take actions in the flop such as ‘call’ or ‘raise’ in their turn and the round continues.
  • Next, 3 community cards are displayed face-up followed by different rounds.
  • In turn, 1 community card is dealt face-up accessible to all players, again followed by raise.
  • In the river, the 5th card is dealt face-up. Active players with higher rank continue the rounds by calling and raising.
  • At the showdown, all active players show their cards and the player with the highest rank wins.
  • If 2 or more players have the same rank the winning is equally shared between them.

Tips to win Omaha :

  • Be selective on starting hands.
  • Be picky when you select your tables.
  • Wait till you have a draw before entering the pot.
  • Enhance deception by strong draws.
